323201, 10.12 Wolverton Works-Soho MPD ECS, Victoria bridge
Having been in receipt of attention at Wolverton works, 323201 returns home to the West Midlands as the 10.12 Wolverton to Soho MPD. I was not sure if this working had hit a problem whilst I was following its progress on the opentraitimes map. Having left Wolverton via the north release it commenced its journey only then to stop just south of Hanslope Junction at a green signal where it sat for about ten minutes. It eventually got going again and made it back to Soho with no further problems.

47614, outward leg of the Royal Windsor Statesman, 06.23 Preston-Windsor & Eton Riverside (1Z85), Victoria bridge
Resplendent in its BR blue paint, 47614 leads the outward leg of the Royal Windsor railtour past Victoria bridge between Northampton and Milton Keynes. The railtour started out from Preston at 06.23 and ran to Windsor and Eton Riverside as 1Z85. The stock is a smart set of Mk. II coaches with the odd Mk. I printed in a non-authentic version of chocolate and cream with white roofs. This particular class 47, as D1733, was chosen by British Railways (soon to become BR) to wear the experimental XP64 turquoise-blue livery appearing from Derby works on 16th April 1964. This livery then morphed into the one we all know and the one it seen wearing here with the addition of a small Scottie dog.

D1944, outward leg of the Royal Windsor Statesman, 06.23 Preston-Windsor & Eton Riverside (1Z85), Victoria bridge
With 47614 hauling the train up at the front, the Royal Windsor railtour heads past Victoria bridge on the WCML just south of Roade with D1944 'Craftsman' at the rear. This class 47 was painted into its British Railways two-tone green livery in the summer of 2016 and was named at the DRS open day, see.... https://www.ontheupfast.com/v/photos/21936chg/25724353204/d1944-47501-drs-gresty-bridge

Class 221, VT 18.23 London Euston-Shrewsbury (9J38, 9L), Roade Hill
An unidentified class 221 Voyager heads north forming the 18.23 Euston to Shrewsbury. This pan shot is taken on Roade Hill between the villages of Roade and Ashton just south of Northampton. The sun should have been out to illuminate the train but a small and stubborn bank of cloud prevented this where all around was blue sky as per in the background!

390044, VT 14.40 Glasgow Central-London Euston (1M15, 31L), Roade Hill
390044 is over half an hour late passing Roade Hill north of Milton Keynes with the 1M15 Glasgow Central to London Euston. Despite the blue sky behind the train, a very awkward bank of cloud behind me kept the line in the shade until I left when it dissipated! The M1 wind farm can be seen in the background.

D1994, return leg of the Royal Windsor Statesman, 17.14 Windsor & Eton Riverside-Preston (1Z87), Roade Hill
I could hear the returning Royal Windsor excursion at Roade Hill in Northamptonshire well before I could see it as D1994 'Craftsman' was making such an alarming noise. It was a kind of grinding squeaking noise. The driver had his window open and was peering back as it passed. However, it can't have been that serious as the train made it back to Crewe and Preston on-time. As happens so often in our game, the moment the train had gone, the sun appeared from, behind a stubborn bank of cloud bathing this scene in glorious evening light! Also, I was prevented from taking a matching picture of 47614 on the rear as a class 350 heading south blocked it, it appeared from the left of the image about a second after this photograph was taken. So altogether, a pretty unsuccessful trip out from home, at least I had only ridden about a mile on my bike rather than half a day in a car!
