D1994, return leg of the Royal Windsor Statesman, 17.14 Windsor & Eton Riverside-Preston (1Z87), Roade Hill
I could hear the returning Royal Windsor excursion at Roade Hill in Northamptonshire well before I could see it as D1994 'Craftsman' was making such an alarming noise. It was a kind of grinding squeaking noise. The driver had his window open and was peering back as it passed. However, it can't have been that serious as the train made it back to Crewe and Preston on-time. As happens so often in our game, the moment the train had gone, the sun appeared from, behind a stubborn bank of cloud bathing this scene in glorious evening light! Also, I was prevented from taking a matching picture of 47614 on the rear as a class 350 heading south blocked it, it appeared from the left of the image about a second after this photograph was taken. So altogether, a pretty unsuccessful trip out from home, at least I had only ridden about a mile on my bike rather than half a day in a car!
