I had a couple of day's work near to the Northampton and Lamport Railway in the village of Spratton. As I was a little early on the way to the job, I called in for a nice walk and a look to see what was stabled in their sidings at the Northampton and Lamport Railway

Starter signal, Pitsford sidings
The NLR's home signal stands in the early autumn sunshine at the end of the Pitsford Sidings. I love the lighting at this time of year, it gives a warm light and, with it being a little lower in the sky, creates softer shadows with less contrast.

W94062, stored, Pitsford sidings
Between 1956 and 1960, British Railways constructed nearly a thousand general utility vehicles (GUVs). There are still a few still in service on the mainline but, surprisingly, a very small number have made it into preservation. The NLR has two in its portfolio, this one is a former Wester Region piece of stock as W94062. It is presently used as storage but has been targeted by the graffiti vandals (I refuse to call them artists) and has been broken into.

DB993270, stored, Pitsford sidings
Stored in Lamport sidings at the NLR are two Dogfish 24 ton Ballast Hoppers. In the foreground is DB993270 that was built in 1959 by Charles Roberts & Co. of Horbury Junction, Wakefield (also known as Chas Roberts & Co.) Next to it is another Dogfish 24 ton Ballast Hopper Wagon DB993399, built in 1959 by Metro-Cammell, Saltley, near Birmingham. The latter has been restored and is operational on the line seeing use when PW department ballast the track and has seen recent work on the NLR's extension south to Boughton crossing.

W21187, stored, Pitsford sidings
Former British Railways Mk1 Brake Composite Corridor (BCK) Coach W21187 was built in 1958 by Charles Roberts & Co. of Horbury Junction, Wakefield (also known as Chas Roberts & Co.) as part of Lot 30424. The lot was ordered in October 1956 with the final vehicle (Coach 21194) being delivered in January 1959. The coach spent its working career on the Western Region until withdrawal in 1982. It entered preservation moving around a number of heritage lines before arriving at the NLR in 2011. It is seen in Pitsford sidings awaiting restoration. As the NLR has no corridor stock in service, it would de be nice to see it in use on the line.

2104 & 2168, stabled, Pitsford sidings
Resident Peckett industrial locomotive 2104 sits adjacent to Pitsford and Brampton station. Looking considerably bigger than the diminutive 1948 built 0-4-0 is Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST 2168 'Edmundsons'. This usually lives at the nearby Rushden Transport Museum with whom the NLR has a close working relationship.

47205, stabled, Pitsford & Brampton station
As it was mid-week, no activity was taking place at the NLR. This included their long-term resident 47205 that looks very smart in it Railfreight grey livery. It sits at the platform of Pitsford and Brampton station along with some of their rolling stock.
