A drive to King's Sutton in order to get to London using Chiltern to Marylebone. This was due to the closure of the WCML for engineering works and hapless passengers being forced to travel by bus for part of their journies - no thank you!

168215, CH 09.45 Birmingham Snow Hill-London Marylebone, King's Sutton station
168215 passes through King's Sutton working the 09.45 Birmingham Snow Hill to Marylebone Chiltern service. For August (even if it is very close towards the end of the month) it is a particularly dull and decidedly chilly day.

Class 220, XC 09.14 Southampton Central-Manchester Piccadilly, King's Sutton station
The only remnant of the original station at King's Sutton is the former GWR over-engineered (as was their style) waiting shelter on the down platform. The footbridge is a relatively new installation being built in 2005 as a result of the closure of the barrow crossing seen in the previous photograph. A CrossCountry Class 220 shatters the peace of the station working the 09.14 Southampton to Manchester service.

168003, CH 09.48 Stratford-on-Avon-London Marylebone, King's Sutton station
168003 arrives at King's Sutton station working the 09.48 Stratford-on-Avon to Marylebone Chiltern service. We travelled on this train to the capital enjoying an alternative route to our more usual one using the WCML which was closed for Bank Holiday engineering works.

168003, CH 09.48 Stratford-on-Avon-London Marylebone & 165036, unidentified working, London Marylebone station
Marylebone station is not one that I visit very often let alone travel in and out of. However, due to the closure of the WCML for engineering works, we opted to travel on the Chiltern route from King's Sutton. After arrival in the capital our train is seen to the right in the form of 168003 having worked the 09.48 from Stratford-on-Avon. An unidentified Class 168 sits over on the far side of the station with 165036 in platform three.

82304, CH 10.13 Birmingham Moor Street-London Marylebone, London Marylebone station
DVT 82304 leads the 10.13 Birmingham Moor Street to Marylebone into its London destination. As can be seen, the dull and overcast weather earlier in the day has given way to clearer skies and some warmer sunshine.

67017, CH 10.13 Birmingham Moor Street-London Marylebone & 165036, unidentified working, London Marylebone Station
Having propelled the 10.13 from Birmingham Moor Sreet 67017 'Arrow' comes to a halt at Marylebone station. This Class 67 is one that has been hired in from EWS (now Deutsche Bahn) to cover a shortage of its own leased Class 67s. 165036 stands at the adjacent platform with an unidentified working.
