For the first time since last summer, my wife and I took a short break in London. We saw a matinee of The Duchess (as in The Duchess of Malfi) staring the excellent Jodie Whittaker and then some Christmas shopping. I also managed an early morning trip to King's Cross for some charter activity.

The journey down to (or up in railway parlance) London from Northampton was straightforward enough with very little of note in Wembley Yard as we passed. |

I got up early and travelled from Hammersmith to King's Cross to see a Class 37 hauled charter at King's Cross. The station was busy with enthusiasts and I was pleasantly surprised at the number of younger lads out for some English Electric action. Perhaps this was in no small part to the self-proclaimed enthusiast and YouTube and TikTok sensation Francis Bourgeois who was also on the platform end continuing his mission 'to make trainspotting cool again.' |
