Travelling a day earlier because of planned rail strikes meant a far more relaxed trip. On arrival in London, we took the tube (Circle Line) from Euston Square all the way to hammersmith in zone 2, I don't think that this is a journey that I have done before. Our hotel was just two minutes walk from Hammersmith station (TfL).

66538, 12.16 Lawley Street-London Gateway (4L46, RT), Northampton station What a difference five minutes make! A short time after the preceding 4L48 had headed south under grey skies the sun has now come out and puts a different perspective on 66538 leading the 12.16 Lawley Street to London Gateway Freightliner. Also like the previous freight, this one passed straight through Northampton station without being held waiting for the movement of a London Northwestern service as is normally the case. 350108, LN 14.23 Northampton-London Euston (1Y24, RT), Northampton station Our train south to London Euston stands at Northampton some ten minutes before departure. My wife and I travelled on the 1Y24 14.24 service from Northampton which was very quiet arriving on time in the capital. Tickets, Northampton-London Euston Our outward off-peak return tickets reveal a fare of £29.95 (after a two-together discount) meaning under £15 each for each single journey.
