The previous day (Saturday) was another one of industrial action on the railways. Things appeared to be retrunring to normal on this day, following the action, but there were some knock-on cancellations. My lunchtime walk was timed to coincide with the passage of three non-passenger services.

66510, 11.00 Lawley Street-Wembley Reception Sidings (0Z65, RT), Roade cutting
I am not sure as to why the 11.00 Lawley Street to Wembley light engine move was required or why two members of staff were needed in the cab but it is certainly a little unusual! It looks as though 66510 needs to receive a little attention in the paintshop (even if these exist anymore?) judging by the huge patches of peeling paint on the roof!

New A508 bridge, Roade bypass, Roade cutting
The sixth and newest crossing of Roade cutting is in place. Over the previous weekend the second pair of giant pre-made girders were lifted in during a Saturday night/Sunday morning pocession. Over the coming year, Roade's new bypass will be constructed and will cross the cutting perhaps providing an additional photographic vantage point. However, I suspect that in common practice with bridges today that it will have ridiculously sized parapets that will prevent any view of what lies below.

66515, 12.08 Denbigh Hall-Crewe Basford Hall (6Y70, 33L), Roade cutting
I had been observing 6Y70 sitting in the sidings at Bletchley (Denbigh Hall) wondering if it was going to actually run. Some time after its scheduled departure time, suddenly it was given a route out of the sidings, got a green light and was underway. 66515 is leading the infrastructure train that appeared to be returning used ballast to Crewe Basford Hall that was probably removed from various trackwork observed taking place in and around Bletchley's old depot.

66588, 12.08 Denbigh Hall-Crewe Basford Hall (6Y70, 33L), Roade cutting
Switched off and going along for the ride 66588 is seen at the rear of the 6Y60 12.08 Denbigh Hall to Crewe Basford Hall engineering train. It appeared to be made up of a rake of loaded JNA Falcon wagons carrying ballast returning to Crewe for probable recycling. Leading the train, which is now largely out of sight under Roade's new bypass bridge spanning the cutting, is 66515.

DR77002, 10.57 Fenny Compton-Tring CE Sidings (6J99, 32E), Roade cutting
To give its full name, Swietelsky Babcock Rail operated Plasser & Theurer AFM 2000 RT Ballast Regulator number DR77002 passes through Roade cutting as the 6J99. This was supposed to have started out from Fenny Compton north of Banbury and head for Tring but it showed on RTT as not running. Then, all of a sudden it appeared showing as running but only from Coventry so I decided to wait for its passage as it was now such a pleasant autumn afternoon! It is seen passing through Roade cutting.
