I managed to combine doing some errands in the village with the passage of a light engine that I suspected would be something interesting and I was right!

56091, 08.02 Willesden DC Sidings-Caddesden (0Z56, 2L), site of Roade station
Allotted the reporting number 1Z56 I suspected that the 08.02 Willesden to Cahaddesden (Derby) light engine move may well be a Grid! I was right, running bang-on-time 56091 'Driver Wayne Gaskell' passes the site of Roade station on the down slow line. Dating from June 1981 the Class 56 was one of the later built Doncaster locomotives hence its survival when compared to the Romanian-built examples most it which rusted away into an oblivion!

DR77906 & DR73116, 09.00 Rugby-Rugby (via Wembley), (6U44, 11L), site of Roade station
A strange out and back move that was all over in three hours passes the site of Roade's former station. The 6U44 09.00 Rugby to Rugby via quick reversal in Wembley Yard is composed of Network Rail's DR77906 and DR73116. Both units were manufactured by Plasser & Theurer for Network Rail around 2010 with the former being a ballast regulator and the latter a rail tamper.
