We took a late morning off-peak train to London from Northampton. In the afternoon I took a trip out on the tube to Dollis Hill to see a railtour that took another route so I missed it!

350231, LN 11.25 Northampton-London Euston (1Y18, 3E), Northampton station
Our journey to London from Northampton was courtesy (as usual) of London Northwestern. We travelled on the 11.25 service from Northampton on 350231 which looks a little tatty at the front end. Along with a number of its classmates the Desiro seems to have had some poor quality yellow paint applied to the connecting doors that is flaking away. However, aesthetic maintenance of the 350/2 subset is probably not a priority as it is these that will be coming off-lease soon to be replaced by new units.

66001, 07.05 Toton North-Dollands Moor (6X11, 10L), Wembley Yard
66001 sits in Wembley Yard at the front of the twice-weekly (possibly rising to thrice once production ramps up) 07.05 Toton North to Dollands Moor cartic. This is a train that I must make the effort to photograph but as it travels via the MML and then the Bedford to Bletchley route to reach the WCML south of home I will need to plan a trip out. The train carries Burnaston built Toyota cars for export to Europe and runs as 6X11 (X equals conveys out of gauge traffic) which would appear an unusual reporting number. However, the WIA cartics, when loaded with larger cars, can be on the verge of going out of gauge and have to travel without the upper protective hoods fixed in place.

92044, stabled, Wembley Yard
92044 'Couperin' is seen stabled in Wembley Yard with one of LO's Class 378s to the right. Behind is one of Greater Anglia's new Class 720s. From the identifiable carriage number, this appears to be set 720516 that whilst it is based at Ilford it is not yet in service.

21032, Metropolitan train, Dollis Hill TfL station
Dating from 2010 the S8 stock has proved successful and offered a step change for London commuters replacing the A Stock on the Metropolitan Line. Taken from the platform of Dollis Hill station 21032 (A end leading) passes working a Metropolitan service from Aldgate to Amersham.

165031, CR 16.42 London Marylebone-Aylesbury Vale Parkway (2V47, RT), Dollis Hill TfL station
Taken the wrong side for the afternoon sunshine Chiltern's 165031 passes Dollis Hill's TfL station working the 2V47 16.42 Marylebone to Aylesbury Va;e Parkway local stopper service. This is an unusual spot in north London with three lines running side by side for some distance, with the Jubilee and Metropolitan TfL lines adjacent to the heavyweight Chiltern route
