Having passed down the WCML the previous day on returning from London I observed a flooded field below the viaduct just to the north of Wolverton at Haversham. With the passage of 'The Cheshireman' charter the following day and with a good morning forecast I thought that this would be a great spot to capture the train.

390130, VT 07.12 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (9G05, 1L), Haversham SP818425 390130 passes Haversham just north of Wolverton working the 07.12 Euston to Birmingham New Street service. With the field partially flooded following a day of heavy rain last week the resident mare who normally has the whole field to himself was corralled in a fenced off strip next to where I was standing to take this photograph and was taking a particular interest in what I was doing! 350370, LN 06.24 Crewe-London Euston (1U16, 5L), Haversham SP818425 Approaching Wolverton (but not stopping as it's a fast service) 350370 crosses Haversham viaduct that itself spans the valley of the River Great Ouse working the 1U16 06.24 Crewe to Euston service. Notice the paintwork in the centre of the third carriage of the four-car set that is in fact not a graffiti attack but part of a vinyl advertising Cadbury World! 66657, 03.25 Garston-London Gateway (4L52, 11L), Haversham SP818425 Freightliner's 66567 heads south over Haversham viaduct between Wolverton and Hanslope Junction leading the 03.25 Garston to London Gateway 4L52 service. Whilst the boxes display a variety of colours I was hooping one of the bright pink ones owned by ONE (Ocean Network Express). Class 350s, LN 08.05 Northampton-London Euston (2N52, 7L), Haversham SP818425 A wider angle view reveals more of Haversham viaduct with the floodwaters of the River Great Ouse covering part of its floodplain in the foreground complete with a lone swan. An unidentified pair of London Northwestern Desiros cross the viaduct working the 08.05 Northampton to London Euston service. The chimney to the extreme left of the photograph is part of the Amey operated Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park. 47804, outward leg of The Cheshireman, 06.39 London Euston-Chester (1Z69, 6E), Haversham SP818425 The diesel hauled outward leg of The Cheshrieman charter that left Euston at 06.39 running as 1Z69 crosses Wolverton viaduct watched by a couple of swans enjoying the flooding of the River Great Ouse. 47804 leads the charter that was supposed to have been steam-hauled for at least part of its journey but was diesel hauled throughout. I really think that the charter market is struggling at the moment with no more than half a dozen people in the carriages visible in this image, something that I have noted on others seen recently too. 33025, outward leg of The Cheshireman, 06.39 London Euston-Chester (1Z69, 6E), Haversham SP818425 33025 brings up the rear of The Cheshireman charter running as the 1Z69 06.39 Euston to Chester. The train is crossing Wolverton (or Haversham depending on your particular bent) viaduct just to the north of Milton Keynes. At this point, the charter was running some thirty-five minutes late having left London forty-five adrift. It made up the lost time arriving at its destination slightly early!
