As has become the norm over the past few years a charter operates on British Grand Prix day to bring race followers from London in some style. After running down from London and simply depositing them at Milton Keynes (for onward transportation by road to Silverstone) the Northern Belle makes an extra run north to Northampton for a reversal giving passengers more time to enjoy their grand champaign breakfast! I managed to get a number of photgraphs of the train both on its outward and return run in the evening. The crowd of one hundred and twent twy thousand spectators watched Nico Rosberg win the race for Mercedes.

A short ride on my bike to see the two outward runs of the Northern Belle Silverstone special pass through Roade cutting. |

After the excitement of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone some of the more well heeled race goers chose the ease and luxury of a relaxing train journey home courtesy of The Northern Belle. I nipped out from home to see the returning train pass Victoria bridge just south of Roade. Unfortunately, the passengers aboard would probably have been disappointed that British drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were both beaten coming third and sixth respectively. |
