2. The return working-PM

After the excitement of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone some of the more well heeled race goers chose the ease and luxury of a relaxing train journey home courtesy of The Northern Belle. I nipped out from home to see the returning train pass Victoria bridge just south of Roade. Unfortunately, the passengers aboard would probably have been disappointed that British drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were both beaten coming third and sixth respectively.

221115, VT 16.50 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1B56), Victoria bridge
This Voyager is instantly recognisable as 221115 by its wearing of the one-off Virgin/Bombardier livery. It is seen sweeping past Victoria bridge with the village of Roade in the background working the 16.50 Birmingham New Street to Euston service.

Class 221, 12.51 Edinburgh Waverley-London Euston (9M56), Victoria bridge
The 12.51 Edinburgh to London Euston Virgin West Coast service is now just over half an hour from its destination as it sweeps around the curve after leaving Roade cutting some half a mile to the north. The Anglo Scottish express (that ought to be worked by a Pendolino really!) is being worked by two unidentified Class 221 Voyagers.

390124, VT 17.37 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H47), Victoria bridge
With it being early July I would have hoped for slightly better weather but I had to make do with this rather overcast evening. 390124 heads north at Victoria bridge just south of Roade working the 17.37 Euston to Manchester Pendolino service.

47790, 18.18 Milton Keynes-London Euston via Northampton & Class 221, VT 17.40 London Euston-Glasgow Central (9S47), Victoria bridge
47790 'Solway Princess' has just left Milton Keynes and is heading north to get to London! It will go as far as Northampton where the locomotive will run round and lead the train south to its destination passing this same spot in about forty-five minutes. The Northern Belle charter is carrying racegoers back from the British Grand Prix at nearby Silverstone who will enjoy some fine dining on the train to round off their day but they will not be toasting a British victory with Nico Rosberg taking the chequered flag.
