I did a half-day at work to meet up with my wife and her colleagues at Northampton station at lunchtime. We travelled down to Euston and then onwards to our hotel on The Strand.

Despite the overtly gloomy atmosphere at Euston station created by the misguided brutalist architectural design emanating from the 1960s when the sun is out and streaming through the few windows the mood of the place does improve somewhat. In this view where natural light prevails 350237 and 378230 wait at the blocks. The London Midland unit will soon work the 2T65 14.04 all stations stopper to Tring whilst the dual voltage Capitalstar should already have left working the 13.50 2D74 to Watford Junction.

My wife and I had our fare kindly paid for us by her company, not that a total of £9.90 will have broken their bank - perhaps we should have chanced our luck and travelled first class!
