A walk across the field from home to see the Cumbrian Coast express pass. It was a beautiful early spring morning with some lovely light.

Class 390, VT 07.23 London Euston-Birmingham New Streetl (9G05), Ashton Road bridge Just across the field from home south of Roade, an unidentified class 390 Pendolino works the 07.23 London Euston to Birmingham New Street. 390013, VT 07.30 London-Euston-Glasgow Central (9S42), Ashton Road bridge The first down Scottish express of the day is about to pass Roade in Northamptonshire formed by 390013. The 9S42 07.30 Euston to Glasgow Central arrives into its destination in the late morning. Notice the strange sign attached to the electrification post indicating to track workers that clearance is very tight with no safe walkway. 47237 & 47580, outward leg of The Cumbrian Coast Express, 07.10 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), Ashton Road bridge The Cumbrian Coast Express, running with the usual 1Z86 headcode is seen passing between Roade and Ashton in Northamptonshire. Unusually, it is being headed by 47237 in its drab WCR livery with 47580 'County of Essex' behind resplendent in its reproduction BR blue. The two class 47s are substituting for the more usual 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' that was unavailable. Further problems were encountered on the day as the train did not take the Cumbrian coast route as planned but travelled via Shap to Carlise.
