An Easter Sunday visit with my wife and son to the Northampton and Lamport Railway for a walk and a drink in the superb spring (dare I say summer like?) weather.

31289, 13.00 Pitsford return, Pitsford & Brampton station
Having got the right away from the guard, the driver climbs aboard 31289 'Phoenix' ready to get the 'Easter egg' 13.00 Pitsford return working away from Pitsford and Brampton station. The class 31 may well be wearing an unorthodox livery but at least it is in better condition now than the rusty hulk it was for a number of years.

31289, 13.00 Pitsford return, Pitsford sidings
Under absolutely stunning blue skies, 31289 'Phoenix' passes the well restored Pitsford Sidings signal box with the 13.00 Pitsford return 'Easter egg' special. This lovely LNWR 1903 box was originally at Wolverton Works being erected here at Pitsford sidings in 1997.

Boughton signal box
The Northampton and Lamport Railway's extension south to Boughton is all but finished. The signal box and signalling is all in place but no trains can run until extensive work takes place on bridge 11. This work is due to take place over the coming few months with the temporary diversion of the Brampton Way off the bridge and over a river footbridge below it. The S & T team have done a good job re-building the box that is an ex. LNWR 1875 structure from Betley Road in Staffordshire.

Construction, Boughton station
Construction is under way of the new Boughton station that will mark the southern extension of the Northampton and Lamport Railway. This will allow locomotives to run round for the first time on the line. It should popular with visitors given its proximity to the northern suburbs of Northampton and the very popular Windhover pub. However, there may well be issues with car parking.

The end of the line, Boughton station
The southern end of the line for the Northampton and Lamport Railway at Boughton. The new platform is seen under construction and signalling is in place. However, until work is completed to repair bridge 11 the site remains train free! Let's hope that the work is finished soon and that trains can start running soon to give this relatively small heritage the boost that it urgently needs.
