Class 390, VT 07.03 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (9G04), site of Roade station
The demolition and lanscaping of the former Pianoforté site in Roade has afforded some new views of the WCML, but not for long, as soon a substantial housing estate will be filling the site. A class 390 passes the flattened site with the 07.03 Euston to Birmingham New Street.

Class 350, 06.01 Crewe-London Euston (1U16), site of Roade station
With the bulldozers having done their work on the former Pianoforté site, the land is ready for the builders to move in and start building yet another huge housing estate of soulless homes! An unidentified class 350 heads south working the 06.01 Crewe to Euston, just out of shot to the right of this image is the site for the former Roade station.

It is forming the 1H09 07.20 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. The landscaped area in the foreground is soon to become a large new housing estate in the village of Roade.

A class 390 passes through Roade past the site of the old station working the 07.23 Euston to Birmingham New Street. Notice the new houses in the background, the same will soon appear on the flattened land in the foreground as the village of Roade continues to grow at an alarming rate.

Class 390, VT 07.30 London Euston-Glasgow Central (1S42), site of Roade station
A class 390 passes the flattened site of the old Pianoforté site in the village of Roade on the WCML, the 07.30 Euston to Glasgow Central 1S42 heads north. Before allowing the construction of yet more houses, might planners first consider infrastructure such as to reinstate Roade's station that was located just to the right of the image?

86259, outward leg of The Cumbrian Coast Express, 07.10 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), site of Roade station
86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' leads another of the highly successful Cumbrian Coast Express railtours north past the site of Roade station. The 1Z86 special leaves Euston at 07.10 running to Canforth where steam takes over to complete its journey to Carlisle. The railtour then returns south via the delightful and underrated Cumbrian Coast returning to Carnforth. On this particular day, the steam leg was hauled by LMS Royal Scot class 7P 4-6-0 46115 'Scots Guardsman'.

66007, 02.19 Peak Forest-Bletchley (6B10), site of Roade station
66007 leads the 02.19 Peak Forest to Bletchley aggregates train past the site of Roade station on a misty October morning just as the sun was beginning to come through. Notice the grab-bags of material next to the access gates on the right, yet another example of the expense wasted by the mis-managment of infrastructure planners. These particular bags had been here for months with weeds growing in them. Not only are they terrifically wasteful but also visually blight the railways.

66007, 02.19 Peak Forest-Bletchley (6B10), site of Roade station
The 02.19 Peak Forest to Bletchley aggregates train passes the site of Roade station just as the autumnal sun begins to break through the early morning cloud and mist. The scene is dominated by one of Roade's now redundant water towers and the huge Pianoforté site that is in the last stages of clearance before being turned into a huge new housing development. The contractors took some eighteen months to clear the site due to them encountering much more contaminated ground than was anticipated; this required extra specialist work to make it safe before homes and gardens could be put on top of it.
