25057, stabled, M51188 & M56352, 09.55 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
Early morning at Weybourne sees the first service of the day, the 09.55 Sheringham to Holt arrives wrong line in to the station. It is formed of two class 101 DMU cars, M51188 and M56352, one in BR blue and the other in British Railways green. Stabled in the bay platform is 25057 that is, according to the NNR web site, 'stored and out of service'; sounds ominous doesn't it?

8572, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne TG123424
Having just crossed the A149 coast road, ex. LNER B12 4-6-0 8572 opens up for the rising gradient as it heads towards Weybourne station leading the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt. This loco. is owned by the M&GN society and is absolutely superb and in-keeping for this particular line. The M&GN milepost to the left of the engine is showing 40 miles from South Lyn Junction in King's Lyn via Fakenham. Also notice the huge skein of geese that have taken flight being spooked by the passing of the train; the noise that they made was incredible and added a certain something to the DAT recording that I undertook of the train.

M56352 & M51188, 10.35 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne TG123424
The class 101 DMU composed of M56352 and M51188 has just left Weybourne station with the 10.35 Holt to Sheringham working. It is now dropping down the gently sloping section of track to a point where it crosses the A149 coast road. There is no act of trespass involved in taking this picture, I am standing behind a fence at a newly constructed farm occupation crossing. In the 13 years that I have been visiting the NNR I have always found that they have a very enlightened and welcoming approach to enthusiasts. As long as you are wearing hi-viz and not in a silly spot, the drivers always give you a toot and a friendly wave.

M51188 & M56352, 11.20 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
The class 101 DMU leading, M51188, is on-loan to the NNR but could do with some attention to its paintwork. On the rear of this combo, M56352 in British Railways green is in better condition. This 101 DMU carriage is on long term loan from the National Railway Museum and sees a lot of use. The reason for the leading loan car being used is that the other green car, M51192, is undergoing repair after a catastrophic engine failure.

M51188 & M56352, Sheringham-Weybourne ECS, Sheringham station
After our visit to Cromer, my wife dropped me in Sheringham and I was going to take the train back to Weybourne for our accommodation at Kelling Heath. However, I had missed the last service train so ended up walking back. It was a beautiful afternoon so a rapid and healthy walk through Sheringham Park was not really a problem! At Sheringham station I was just in time to see M51188 and M56352 leave with the ECS working to Weybourne. The lighting and content of this image gives a really clear view of what the NNR have created at Sheringham station.

8572, 16.25 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne Woods
As the shadows begin to lengthen, LNER B12 8572 heads the 16.25 Holt to Sheringham, the final service of the day. I am standing just below Weybourne Woods and looking in a north easterly direction with the North Sea in the background. Close examination of the greenery in the foreground reveals some yellow flowers. It is actually oilseed rape in flower some five months after this usually occurs. There were other patches in this area that appeared to have been cultivated, climate change or an example of a Norfolk micro-climate; I'll let you decide!
