A morning trip to the site of Roade station to see Rail Operation Group class 47 heading for Wolverton Works in order to collect a Norther refurbished class 319.

350104, LM 11.54 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y08, RT), site of Roade Station 350104 passes the site of the long closed Roade station working the 11.54 Birmingham New Street to London Euston. 390138, VT 12.30 London Euston-Glasgow Central (1S63, 1L), site of Roade Station 390138 'City of London' approaches the site of the old Roade station working the 12.30 Euston to Glasgow Central. I am standing on a footbridge that spans the line that stood atop the ends of the platforms of the old station that closed on 07.09.64. This scene, looking south, was very different before closure. There were numerous sidings to the right, Roade signal box and a link up to the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway (SM &J) that crossed the LMS lines about half a mile south from this spot on a girder bridge. Class 221, VT 12.30 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1B44, RT), site of Roade station A Virgin class 221 passes the site of Roade station working the 12.30 Birmingham New Street to London Euston. It's a pretty poor show when a service such as this, completely under the wires, has to be formed of a diesel unit. 47812, 09.07, Leicester-Wolverton Works (5H70), site of Roade Station Rail Operations Group's 47812 passes the site of Roade station just south of Northampton leading two barrier coaches as the 09.07 Leicester to Wolverton Works.
