185117, TP 12.22 Liverpool Lime Street-Scarborough (1E73, RT), Liverpool Lime Street station
185117 stands under Lime Street's impressive curved train shed with the 12.22 to Scarborough. At the time of writing, Trans Pennine Express are looking to send these relatively new class 185s off-lease and replace them with new units. I wonder where they will end up working next?

08454, stabled, Alstom Technology Centre, Ditton
Taken from our train as it leaves Merseyside, 08454 looking very smart, is viewed at the Alston Technology Centre at Ditton. 08454 was built at Derby in 1958 and initially allocated to 17B (Burton-on-Trent) and then moved back to its birth place, 16C (Derby) where it was withdrawn in 1981. After storage, it was reinstated in 1985 ending up at Longsight. Now, it has a new lease of life being used by Alstom at their Technology Centre for moving various stock (very carefully no doubt!) around the plant.

47790, stored, Crewe Diesel Depot
Devoid of its nameplates and looking a bit sorry for itself, 47790 sits at Crewe Diesel Depot. Originally introduced in 1965 as D1073, this locomotive became 47272 under TOPS. Then it carried various numbers until becoming 47790 and named 'Galloway Princess'. It is currently stored and out of use.
