Whilst on route to work in Milton Keynes I had cause to pass through Wolverton and spotted a TFW unit waiting to exit the works. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me so two photographs taken on the mobile 'phone had to suffice.

197031, 10.01 Wolverton Centre Sidings-Crewe Basford Hall (4G97, 4L), McConnell Drive SP820409, Wolverton
Whilst driving along McConnel Drive in Wolverton I spotted 197031 standing on the Works' access line. Up at the front was the resident works' shunter 09009. As I had to dash off to work I was not able to check when it was to leave but evidently, it departed at 10.01 as 4G97 to Crewe Basford Hall. According to a Works' insider the Class 197 was at Wolverton for 'snagging' work to be undertaken before entry into service. The work was paid for by CAF and undertaken by Wolverton Works' staff under contract. One issue requiring attention was the removal and refitting of some window units due to excessive amounts of mastic in the frames.

TFW's 197031 is seen waiting to leave Wolverton Works taken from McConnell Drive. It departed as the 10.01 4G97 to Crewe Basford Hall long after I had gone off to work so missed the event! A number of the new trains are being brought to Wolverton for various 'snagging' work to be undertaken showing that even CAF (as one of the better-perceived manufacturers) is not immune from such problems!
