Whilst driving along McConnel Drive in Wolverton I spotted 197031 standing on the Works' access line. Up at the front was the resident works' shunter 09009. As I had to dash off to work I was not able to check when it was to leave but evidently, it departed at 10.01 as 4G97 to Crewe Basford Hall. According to a Works' insider the Class 197 was at Wolverton for 'snagging' work to be undertaken before entry into service. The work was paid for by CAF and undertaken by Wolverton Works' staff under contract. One issue requiring attention was the removal and refitting of some window units due to excessive amounts of mastic in the frames.
