221112, VT 09.20 Chester-London Euston (1A19, 12L) & 390153, VT 10.16 London Euston-Edinburgh Waverley (9S60, 21L), Roade cutting A passing of Avanti services in Roade cutting. To the left one of their Pendolinos heads northwards working the 9S60 10.16 Euston to Edinburgh worked by 390153. Whilst to the right is an endangered species in the form of Voyager 221112 heads south working the 09.20 Chester to Euston service. 805009, 09.19 Edge Hill Depot-London Euston (5Q90, 10L), Roade cutting Wearing a newer version of Avanti's house colour scheme 805009 passes through Roade cutting as the 5Q90 09.19 Edge Hill Depot to London Euston test train. This is one of the thirteen bi-mode AT300 Hitachi trains built for AWC in two stages with the bodies constructed in Japan and following importation to the UK the trains were built up here at the Newton Aycliffe facility. 66544, 10.59 New Bilton-Willesden Euroterminal (4R98, 25E), Roade cutting Following the depositing of more of HS2's huge amount of tunnelled waste in a huge former quarry just outside of Rugby the empty wagons return south again. The 4R98 10.59 New Bilton to Willesden Eusrotunnel passes through Roade cutting led by Freightliner's 66544. These trains, as seen here, are relatively short at about fifteen wagons which seems a little bit of a wasted opportunity to me, perhaps it has to do with the relatively short headshunt at New Bilton where the spoil is unloaded. 390121, VT 10.53 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H15, 12L), Roade cutting Still proudly wearing its COP26 climate change vinyls 390121 'Opportunity' passes northwards through Roade cutting working the 1H15 10.53 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. Despite the Avanti press launch of the train back in 2021 showing the two young people who's names were chosen for the Pendolino proudly lifting some proper 3D type of plates, as is the case now with most named trains only rather disappointing vinyl plates are actually applied. 805002, 11.02 London Euston-Crewe (5Q93, RT), Roade cutting The second Avanti test train within ten minutes passes through Roade cutting. Bi-mode 805002 looks rather nude in its plain grey livery working the 5Q93 11.02 Euston to Crewe test run. A few years ago during the run-down of Virgin's term running WCML services, a number of their Pendolinos wore a plain livery very similar to this with minimal branding.
