Rather than travelling on advanced off-peak tickets this for this trip to London my wife opted for slightly cheaper tickets for specific trains. This made little difference to our usual travel arrangements as we travelled on the trains that we normally take on our off-peak return tickets. But, my wife was less comfortable with the arrangements concerned about us missing the trains that were booked on and being excessed. Either way, the journey to London from Northampton went to plan.

London Northwestern's 350231 is seen waiting to leave with the 10.06 Birmingham New Street to Euston service. My wife and I travelled south from Northampton to Euston on this service seen at Northampton's platform one as the 6R93 09.07 Willesden Eurotunnel to Rugby New Bilton passes lead by Freightliner's 66506 'Crewe Regeneration'. This loaded freight is taking yet more mined waste from HS2 works in the London area to be emptied into a huge water-filled former quarry to the north of Rugby. Evidence of this work can be seen on the latest 2023 updated image from Google Earth just search 'Lawford Bridge Close, Rugby'.

66620, 09.23 Ardingly-Wembley (6M57), Wembley Yard
A broadside photograph of 66620 as it stands in Wembley Yard having recently arrived leading the 6M57 09.23 from Ardingly. Ardingly is an aggregates depot deep in the Sussex countryside on the short spur that once linked the Brighton mainline to what is now the Bluebell line

66044 & 66019, 02.57 Toton North Yard-Dollands Moor (6X11, 2L), Wembely Yard
Not a train that I have many photographs of due, in part, to its antisocial hour when passing through my home county of Northamptonshire. Having arrived at Wembley, the 6X11 02.57 Toton North yard to Dollands Moor has a layover before moving on. 66044 and 66019 lead the train that is composed of new Toyota cars all going for export to Europe built at the car maker's Burnaston factory to the south west of Derby.

221114, VT 13.02 London Euston-Chester (1D87, 1E), London Euston station
Still here and polluting Euston (and all other stations on the Avanti network for that matter)! Avanti's 221114 sits idling at Euston waiting to work the 13.02 service to Chester. Soon the new bi-mode Class 805s will take over these services and not before time! However, I hear that two new operators are likely to take them on running services from Shrewsbury and Wrexham and also Stirling both to Euston via the WCML so they may be back!
