On the first day of meteorological spring 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' was scheduled to pass through Northampton with stock for the next day's Steam Dreams London to York charter. I managed to persuade my boss to come with me with him amazed at the number of enthusiasts and all their kit gathered to watch the event.

60007, 10.11 Crewe HS-Southall LSL ECS (5Z07, 7E), Northampton station
Lit by some weak early spring sunshine 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' eases through Northampton's centre road leading the 10.11 Crewe HS to Southall LSL empty stock move. This working had been well published and brought out the enthusiasts in their numbers. Whilst only one is visible in this photograph I was standing in a line of half a dozen with many more dotted about the station. The following day, the train would return north on the ECML as Steam Dreams' London to York charter. I would not normally have gone to the station to capture this train but work commitments took away other options.

D1937, 10.11 Crewe HS-Southall LSL ECS (5Z07, 7E), Northampton station
With 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' getting putting down the power at the front for the climb to Hunsbury tunnel D1937 'Roger Hoskins MA 1925 - 2013' goes along for the ride at the rear. I don't know how much assistance it would be giving but it was doing nothing when it passed through the station here. The driver was in the front cab with a view of the last coach! The train was running as 5Z07 from Crewe to Southall LSL reading for charter work the following day.
