My day off coincided with two promising moves on the section of the WCML close to home. One I managed to see the other happened to pass as I was out in a local haunt having lunch with my wife so, it got away!

66504, 07.50 Felixstowe North-Lawley Street (4M94, 7E), Roade cutting
The 4M94 07.50 Felixstowe to Lawley Street Freightliner passes through Roade cutting on yet another dull and cool July day. The regular and daily service is led by 66504 which I have a number of photographs of over the years as far back as 2009.

47746 & 57010, 10.10 Southall WCR-Carnforth Steamtown (5M43, 130E), Roade cutting
I was not at all sure what to expect from the 10.0 Southall WCR to Carnforth empty stock move or even if it would run when I spotted it on RTT in the morning. In addition, there were no postings on any of the forums logging its progress so I was intrigued to see what would appear around the curve at the end of Roade cutting. 47746 and 57010 lead just three of WCR's coaches that were being taken back to their Lancashire base running as 5M43 which seemed a slightly odd reporting number for such a service with 4 signifying a fast freight (seventy-five mph) and M that it originated in the Midlands.

66795, 14.40 DIRFT-Dollands Moor (6O55, 12L), A508 bridge
More used to seeing a dirty and unkempt DB red Class 66, often still in its redundant EWS livery, on the Daventry to Dollands Moor (and the incoming service) water train the sight of a smart GBRf example is a real contrast especially when looking at the stock! 66795 'Bescot LDC' leads the 6O55 empty cargo waggons back to Dollands Moor that will then continue their journey back through the tunnel to the continent. I was also pleased to capture this particular 66 as it was a photographic cop!
