With some weak sunshine and some freight due I took a walk from home across the fields to Victoria bridge.

66091, 08.02 Tilbury-DIRFT (4M07, RT), Victoria bridge After standing on Victoria bridge south of Roade in some pleasant sunshine as the trains approached, off course, it dived behind some cloud! DRS’ 66091 leads the 08.02 Tilbury to Daventry (DIRFT) Tesco Express. 70003, 09.31 Crewe Basford Hall-Southampton MCT (4O29, 13L), Victoria bridge Due to the closure of the line between Oxford and Didcot for repairs to Nuneham viaduct’s abutments, all freight was being diverted, most of it via the already busy WCML. One of the diverted services was the 4O29 09.31 Crewe Basford Hall to Southampton led, as it usually is, by a Class 70, on this occasion 70003. 66770, 06.34 Dollands Moor-DIRFT (6M45, 4E) & 390130, 11.53 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H18, RT), Victoria bridge As the Avanti 11.53 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly speeds northwards worked by Pendolino 390130 66770 grinds on towards Daventry leading the daily 06.34 from Dollands Moor, the bottles water train. 66770 is always recognisable as having the strange rectangle of yellow hi-vis paint on the front end that is a different shade from the rest of the paintwork. 66148, 05.27 Wakefield Europort-Didcot TC (4O43, 31L) & 06.34 Dollands Moor-DIRFT (6M45, 4E), Victoria bridge The 6M45 06.34 Dollands Moor to DIRFT ‘water train’ is in the final few miles of its journey as it passes Victoria bridge just south of Roade whilst the diverted 4043 05.27 Wakefield Europort to Didcot continues its rather convoluted diverted journey south led, as it was yesterday, by 66148 66148 ‘Maritime Intermodal Seven’. Unlike yesterday’s run that went straight through to Southampton today it was to continue along the GWML from Reading to Didcot. After a short break during which I presume the locomotive ran round, it retraced its steps back to Reading and then south to Southhampton running now as 4O43 which is the correct reporting number for this train.
