My daily constitutional happened to coincide (how very convenient!) with the passage of a bit of freight near home but it also with some heavy but fast-moving rain showers!

88003, 13.37 DIRFT-Tilbury (4L48, 100L), Victoria bridge
Running extremely late having left DIRFT well over two hours after it should have done the driver of 88003 ‘Genesis’ will have the power handle pulled back eager to make up some lost time. Indeed, the speed that the fully loaded (apart from a few spaces at the front) 4L48 Tesco Express from DIRFT to Tilbury docks made it from Northampton to this spot at Victoria bridge a few miles south was remarkable; I would suggest that it was twice as quick as a Class 66 would do it on the steady rising gradient all the way. 88003 was a photographic cop, they are never particularly common south of DIRFT as they are to the north.

66504, 11.13 Felixstowe North-Trafford Park (0M27, 2L), Victoria bridge
I do not know quite what went on here but something went awry with the 4M87 Felixstowe to Trafford Park Freightliner service today! On OpenTrainTimes I could quite clearly see this mysterious 0M27 heading northwards but with nothing on either RTT or the Live Train Times site, I was mystified to see what would appear in the distance. Looking a little worse for wear 66504 rumbles past Victoria bridge near Roade running in the 4M87 slot but as a light engine move from Wembley Yard to Crewe Basford Hall. This information appeared later on RTT after it had arrived at its new destination.

66302, 14.16 Bescot Yard-Tring (6G65, RT), Ashton Road bridge
It is a little unusual to see an engineering train such as this, the 14.16 Bescot Yard to Tring 6G65 on a Thursday normally seeing them at the weekend. However, with engineering work planned this weekend coming it looks like Network Rail is getting themselves ready by getting the ballast close to the work site lead on this occasion by former DRS 66302. Passing just south of Roade the relatively short train took a slightly out-of-the-way route heading all the way south to Wembley Yard to then retrace its steps to Tring arriving much later in the evening.

66731, 13.53 Birch Coppice-London Gateway (4L68, RT), Ashton Road bridge
Celebrity member of the class of many, 66731 ‘Captain Tome Moore A True British Inspiration’ passes Ashton Road bridge leading the 13.53 Birch Coppice to London Gateway 4L68 intermodal working. Two years on from the dark days of the Coronavirus crisis when this locomotive was named it still looks very smart which is a testament to how GBRf maintain their fleet with them always being well turned out especially when compares to other operators.
