A forward shot would have been impossible from this location on the village's A508 road bridge as it would have been directly into the sun and it is far too dangerous to erect the requisite ladder on the south side with no pavement and much traffic! In the coming few months this road number will change as the very busy road is downgraded following the opening of the long-awaited and much anticipated bypass. 47727 & 360120, 10.29 Northampton EMD-Cricklewood South Sidings (5Q97, 3L), A508 bridge Vintage motive power for the 5Q97 10.29 Northampton to Cricklewood drag with 47727 'Edinburgh Castle/Caisteal Shun Eideann' leading the train past Roade. Whilst the Class 47 is approaching its sixtieth birthday (2024) the EMR Desiro unit being dragged south, 360120, is a youngster at twenty-one years old. The Class 360s that operate on the st. Pancras to Corby MML route are periodically dragged from London to Northampton's Siemens depot for exams and maintenance but I still don't understand why they cannot move under their own electrical power?
