I had my eye on the 5Z64 on RTT and after a short delay, I was pleased to see it on its way from Crewe. I took my morning constitutional to coincide with its passing through Roade, but gone has the hot weather of the previous few weeks with cloudy skies and spots of rain.

66524, 07.40 London Gateway-Lawley Street (4M41, 25L), Roade cutting
66524 heads north through Roade cutting leading the 07.40 London Gateway to Lawley Street Freightliner service. Notice the large vinyl applied to the flank of the locomotive. This has no sort of commemorative value but is merely trying to attract new members of staff to work for Freightliner announcing 'We are recruiting'. I don't know how successful this has been as the locomotive has carried this vinyl since 2018!
47593 & 47614, 08.20 Crewe HS-Southall LS (5Z64, 7E), Roade cutting
I was almost caught napping here taking this photograph! I was expecting the 08.20 Crewe HS to Southall Locomotive Services empty coaching stock to be making fairly leisurely progress up through Roade cutting but when it appeared, amidst clouds of exhaust, it was really moving so I had to rapidly adjust the shutter speed from 1600th to 2000th second. 47593 'Galloway Princess' leads 47614 (not powered) making a fine sight hauling a set of blood and custard preserved stock.
