A visit to Frome for an early Christmas weekend with my mum and her partner. My wife and I travelled by train from Northampton via the usual Birmingham and Bristol route.

As usual, we travelled from Northampton to Frome courtesy of three TOCs, London Northwestern CrossCountry and Great Western Railway. All went well apart from a tight change at Gloucester caused by our inbound XC service being delayed leaving Birmingham New Street. This leg of the journey also marked my first time at a new station since its opening last year, namely Worcestershire Parkway. |

For our Christmas dinner, my wife, mum and her partner went to the lovely Circus Restaurant in Bath. Whilst we all drove to Bath from Frome my wife and I enjoyed some post dinner shopping and exploration of Bath so caught the train back in the early evening. Altogether, a very pleasant day! |

Our journey back from Frome to Northampton went without a hitch arriving bang on time. The weather was pretty appalling for most of the journey with strong wind and heavy, driving rain thanks to the leading edge of Storm Bara. |
