With my wife's knee feeling a little better, we decided to walk to Holt after the morning's forecast rain had cleared through.

9220 'Black Prince' makes light work of the accent of Kelling bank leading the 10.00 Sheringham to Holt service. For once the wind was blowing the right direction, even if had veered to a strong and cold northwesterly, so as to blow the smoke from the chimney of the 9F away from the locomotive and train. However, if the sun had been out I would have been forced to the other side of the track at Kelling Heath and thus the view of the stock would have been obliterated!

E51188, 16.35 Holt-Sheringham, Kelling Heath
On arrival back at our base for the week on Kelling Heath my wife and went for a stroll to take in the late afternoon views. As we were looking across to the North Sea and Weybourne the final train of the North Norfolk Railway's timetable slipped quietly downhill through the trees below us. This shows the trailing car of one of the NNR's two Class 101 DMU sets just being picked out by the last vestiges of sunshine reaching into the woods below.
