The day dawned extremely foggy but this did not deter me from going out to capture the passing of yet another Cumbrian Mountain Express hauled by the stalwart 86259 'Les Ross/ Peter Pan'.

In an unusually foggy June morning 390045 works the 07.20 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly Virgin Trains service. The Pendolino is seen passing Blisworth on the Weedon loop that avoids Northampton.

On a foggy and chilly June morning the Pendolino is working the 07.23 Euston to Birmingham New Street Virgin service.

390042 'City of Bangor/Dinas Bangor' looks a little shabby around the front end as it works the 06.35 Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston near to Blisworth on the Weedon loop line. Note that the dense fog from just a relatively short time ago is beginning to lift as the fields in the background begin to come into view.

86259, outward leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express, 07.09 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), Blisworth SP735539
Unfortunately, despite the fog lifting it was not happening quickly enough for the sun to illuminate 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' as it works the outward leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express that left Euston at 07.09 heading, ultimately, for Carlisle. The AC electric would come off the train at Carnforth where 60009 'Union of South Africa' would take over leading the train later southwards over the fabled and Settle and Carlisle route. The train is seen passing near to the village of Blisworth on the Weedon route in Northamptonshire.

Just a few minutes after the charter led by 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' had headed north in the foggy gloom the sun has got to work and burnt it off 390127 'Virgin Buccaneer' heads south. The Virgin Pendolino is working the 1B05 07.05 Wolverhampton to Euston train and is seen passing near the village of Blisworth just north of Roade in Northamptonshire.
