A short and curtailed trip to Wilson's Crossing with Andy on a positively stunning spring-like morning. This was after Andy had dropped off his twenty-five year old Nissan Serena at my work to be dispatched to the great car park in the sky after failing its MoT in a dramatic style!

47812, 06.44 Eastleigh Arlington-Worksop Down Reception (5Q26), Wilson's Crossing
With the sun's low angle creating a few lighting issues at Wilson's Crossing just north of Northampton, this interesting working led by Rail Operation Group's 47812 gets away from the town. Andy and I had arrived at this location and were following the progress of 5Q26 but knew very little about it as the operator had obfuscated it meaning no progress was indicated on RTT or Rail Record. The 06.44 Eastleigh Arlington to Worksop Down Reception was conveying two superbly painted Grand Central sets of stock for further storage. The TOC had ambitious plans to operate Blackpool to Euston trains starting last September but COVID put an end to all of that!

47812 & 82230, 06.44 Eastleigh Arlington-Worksop Down Reception (5Q26), Wilson's Crossing
The last time I saw DVT 82230 it was heading south last summer, see.... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/29375099604/x90026-90020-82230-17-20-widnes-transport in hopeful anticipation of the start of staff training runs so that Grand Central could commence its Blackpool to Euston services. However, since then, COVID has thwarted these attempts with the plans now completely abandoned. Therefore, the repainted stock, including the DVT, is seen here at Wilson's Crossing near Northampton returning north to Worksop for storage and an uncertain future. The stock is seen being led by Rail Operations Group's 47812.

82201, 06.44 Eastleigh Arlington-Worksop Down Reception (5Q26), Wilson's Crossing
The second DVT in the 06.44 Eastleigh (Arlington Services) to Worksop Reception sidings is seen broadside with its associated stock behind it. 82201 was being towed, along with another former Grand Central set, by ROG's 47812. With the plans to introduce this refurbished and repainted stock on Blackpool to Euston services now abandoned one wonders what the future holds for them. I have photographed 82201 many times, for example..... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/24946503204/x82201-1a13-biggleswade-tl192433 but could this be the last time?

66502, 06.15 Trafford Park-Felixstowe North (4L97, 1L). Wilson's Crossing
66502 'Basford Hall Centenary 2001' leads the 4L97 06.15 Trafford Park (Manchester) to Felixstowe Freightliner service. The train is seen passing Wilson's Crossing just north of Northampton on a beautiful late winter's day with the first day of spring (meteorologically speaking) still two days away!
