Before my wife and I headed to Cromer for the day I popped out to see the first train of the day. As it was another rather grey day I chose a position on the north side of Kelling bank avoiding being on the wrong side for a non-existent sun!

8572, 10.00 Sheringham-Holt, Kelling bank
Ex LNER B12 8572 attacks Kelling bank just west of Weybourne as it works the North Norfolk Railway's 10.00 Sheringham to Holt service. This steep climb is a test for many locomotives especially as they are making a standing start from Weybourne station and, for the first section, the line tends to be damp as it passes through a heavily wooded area from which it has just emerged here.

There is an audio recording of this event at my Youtube site, see... https://youtu.be/lLlhjTGUrWs

8572, 10.40 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne station
Having seen 8572 lead the outward working a little earlier it is seen now running tender first into Weybourne station with the 10.40 Holt to Sheringham. As can be seen here it is running into the 'wrong' platform in order to facilitate an easier token exchange as Weybourne station was closed as part of the heritage line's COVID management. As well as the closure of the station there were severe restrictions on travelling arrangements with just return journeys possible and in groups of no more than six family members to a compartment in the three former suburban stock seen at the rear of this train. In addition to these travelling arrangements, no access was permitted to either Holt or Sheringham stations unless travelling on one of its later return workings throughout the day.
