Gen on the internet indicated that there was an interesting ROG move through Roade in association with the return of a Class 442 from Wolverton to Eastleigh. It was a smashing morning after a recent run of poor weather so I popped out to see it whilst on my way to the Post Office.

66526, 06.00 Crewe Basford Hall-Felixstowe North (4L41, 3E), site of Roade station
66526 'Driver Steve Dunn (George)' passes the site of Roade's former station leading the 4L41 06.00 Crewe Basford Hall to Felixstowe Freightliner service. This is one of my least photographed local freight flows that does not always run but is one that is usually diesel hauled.

47812, 05.41 Chaddesden sidings-Wolverton Centre sidings (5H70, 5L), site of Roade station
I had been tracking the progress of this 5H70 working from Derby to Wolverton for an hour or so and was determined to get out and see it as it was such a lovely morning. Postings indicated that it had five barrier coaches in tow so I judged that it would just fit in this view at the site of Roade's former station. Looking very smart in its Rail Operations Group livery, 47812 approaches the end of its journey to Wolverton conveying the barriers - a little later involved in the repatriation of a Class 442 back to Eastleigh after refurbishment. I have a picture of this particular Class 47 taken much earlier in its life back in 1977 at Bradford-on-Avon when it was running as 47239, see..... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/23615754404/whilst-waiting-for-our-train-to
