For the second Sunday on the trot, the DIRFT to Mossend 'Tesco Express' was diverted south to London to then go north again on the ECML. Unfortunately, the similar Grangemouth did not run this week. There were also a number of infrastructure workings supporting extensive activity taking place south of Bletchley on the slow lines.

66740, 09.07 Bescot Yard-Tring (6G55, 10E), Roade cutting
A photograph illustrating the perils of being located on a largely north to south railway line during a time when we should not be travelling unless totally necessary! It's late morning and the sun is straight behind me meaning the lighting is dire on 66740 'Sarah' as it passes through Roade cutting leading the 6G55 09.07 Bescot to Tring infrastructure train formed of a number of fully loaded HQA Autoballaster wagons.

66423, 13.09 DIRFT-Purfleet (4L48, 36L), A508 road bridge
Yet another picture of 66423 leading the 4L48 DIRFT to Purfleet Tesco working. I took a virtually identical photograph in January last year. See..... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/25757907804/x66423-13-09-dirft-purfleet-4l48 but the weather was a little different then!

88010 & 68016, 14.10 DIRFT-Mossend (4Z45, 147L), Roade Hill
Just as the diverted 14.10 DIRFT to Mossend 'Tesco Express' approached my location on Roade Hill the sun dived behind a large cloud. Rather than take another disappointing shaded photograph I went down on my haunches and focused on the cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris) in the foreground to alter the interest slightly. I would have liked a little more of the cow parsley and the train to be in focus but at 1/2000 sec shutter speed, there was not enough depth of field at the aperture (f5.6). With a little more time I could have ramped the ISO up from 500 to perhaps 1600 and that would have got the depth of field required to get more of the image in focus. 88010 'Aurora' leads 68016 'Fearless' on the heavily diverted and late working service that is heading south to London before then heading north up the ECML to Scotland.

66727, 13.30 Ledburn Junction-Bescot up engineers (6G53, 38L), Roade Hill
Within a few minutes of taking the previous photograph, the sun is back out again! 66727 'Maritime One' leads the 13.30 Ledburn Junction to Bescot engineering train past Roade Hill. This had been involved in works taking place just south of Bletchley and is composed of a set of JNA Falcon open ballast wagons probably carrying spent ballast going for recycling back at Bescot.
