Two trips out today. Firstly, an early morning walk to see another Merseyrail unit being taken northwards to Liverpool after arrival through The Tunnel from the continent. Secondly, in the early evening, I nipped out to see the passage of an impressive DRS convoy running from, initially, Eastleigh to their Crewe facility at Gresty Bridge.

66715 & 777007, 02.44 Dollands Moor-Kirkdale (6X29, 15E), site of Roade station
Having arrived on UK soil through the Channel Tunnel two days previously, brand new Stadler built 777007 is taken north to Liverpool being dragged by 66715 'Valour'. Deliveries of Merseyrail's new units, that are replacing their positively ancient BR era Class 507 and 508 units, will be coming thick and fast over the coming months but I suspect that there will be some COVID-19 related delays. Complete with some barrier wagons front and rear, the 02.44 Dollands Moor to Kirkdale running as 6X29 is seen passing a sunny Roade.

777007 & 66715, 02.44 Dollands Moor-Kirkdale (6X29, 15E), site of Roade station
A closer view of 777007 being dragged as the 02.44 Dollands Moor to Kirkdale as it passes the site of Roade station. My feeling is that these new Merseyrail units look more like trams than trains but what's in a word, they still do the same thing! The unit and a small selection of barrier wagons are being dragged by 66715 'Valour' that is just in frame at the front of the train.

37800, 08.04 Wolverton Centre sidings-Leicester LIP (45E), site of Roade station
Having dropped off a Class 455 unit at Wolverton works that it had collected from Stewart's Lane 37800 'Cassiopeia' returns light engine to its Leicester base passing Roade. Whilst I have identified the working as the 08.04 Wolverton Centre sidings to Leicester I have had less success with the reporting number. If anybody can advise I would appreciate it.

66509, 03.39 Garston-London Gateway (4L32, 24E), site of Roade station
66509 bursts out into the sunshine from Roade cutting leading the 03.39 Garston to London Gateway Freightliner. I have precious few photographs of this particular Class 66. In fact, the only other time that I have an image of it was at Taunton in 2015 and, even then, it was as a light engine and in tricky lighting. 390008, VT 17.23 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (9G35, 1L), site of Roade station
390009 'Charles Rennie Mackintosh' passes Roade in lovely early evening sunshine working the 17.23 Euston to Birmingham New Street. Interestingly, just a very short distance from where I am standing is a cottage named Candidia (after George Bernard Shaw's play). It was completely remodelled from two smaller cottages during the end of World War One by the local entrepreneur and renowned model railway builder WJ Bassett-Lowke who was good friends with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Rennie Mackintosh had a great deal of influence upon the design, fixtures and fittings of the cottage that later featured in an edition of Ideal Home magazine during 1920. Some of the original Rennie Mackintosh furniture from the cottage can be seen today at the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. 88002, 37059, 37716 & 37069, 12.44 Eastleigh-Crewe Gresty Bridge (0Z69, 219E), site of Roade station
A sea of DRS blue at Roade! This four locomotive move started off with 37716 and 37069 (the rear two locomotives) running up from Eastleigh to Willesden Yard. Here they teamed up with 88002 and 37059 (the front two) with the whole lot heading north as the 0Z69 to DRS' Crewe Gresty Bridge facility. They look very smart in the early evening sun but, unfortunately, the rear two have not quite made it into the light.
NB - The following day the whole combo moved again from Crewe to DRS at Carlisle.

66110, 13.15 Trafford Park-London Gateway (4L56, 7E), site of Roade station
66110 yet again on the 4L56! For the third time in a week, I have captured this completely EWS liveried and branded locomotive on the 13.15 Trafford Park to London Gateway Freightliner. Indeed, last week I even caught it at the same location passing Roade even if it was from a different angle.
