Getting a little bored now of the extension to the COVID-19 lockdown I have taken to scouring RTT every morning looking for anything different or unusual and make that the purpose of my daily walk. Today all I saw was a strange working from Banbury to Bletchley. Normally this would be a track machine but today delving a bit deeper revealed that it was a 'diesel locomotive trailing 800 tons' so I thought that it was worth a short walk out from home. In the event, it was a track machine but at least I got out!

Vandalism, site of Roade station bridge
I would not normally include a photograph of vandalism on my site but this one is interesting! It is on the footbridge that crosses the WCML at the site of Roade station. However, one wonders if JC was a bored train spotter waiting for the next Patriot, Brittania or Duchess to pass on 20th July 1961?

66305, 13.51 DIRFT-Ripple Lane (4L48, 3L), site of Roade station
On what had been a mainly grey day a rare bit of sunshine illuminates 66305 as it heads past the site of Roade station with the heavily laden 4L48 13.51 Daventry to Purfleet that, as is usual practice, was terminated at Ripple Lane.

350259, 350128 & 350377, LN 13.15 London Euston-Northampton (2N33, RT), site of Roade station
A trio of Desiros formed of 350259, 350128 and 350377 all in different variants of London Northwestern's liveries pass Roade with the 2N33 13.15 Euston to Northampton. Like most trains at this time during the COVID-19 crisis this train was probably devoid of any passengers!

Stoneblower, 12.00 Reservoir sidings-Bletchley sidings (30E), site of Roade station
This was the 'diesel locomotive trailing 800 tons' working that I had been following on RTT! It turned out to be a stoneblower (that I could not get the number of) that left Banbury's Reservoir sidings at 12.00 to get to Bletchley. This has a route mileage of seventy-six miles but, by road, it is a relatively short twenty-nine. If the East-West rail link ever gets built with the farcical delays that have blighted it now added to by COVID-19 then a journey such as this would be so much more straightforward with a reversal at Bicester South Junction required unless a north chord is to be installed?

66711, 10.36 Felixstowe North-Hams Hall (4M23, 6E), site of Roade station
The 10.36 Felixstowe to Hams Hall (Birmingham) Freightliner passes through Roade with 66711 'Sence' leading. It makes a change to see a Class 66 in a different livery to the more usual WCML fayre. 66711 is owned and operated by GBRf and is the only member of the class to carry the Aggregate Industries blue, green and silver livery complete with green and blue Aggregate Industries logo.
