This was the 'diesel locomotive trailing 800 tons' working that I had been following on RTT! It turned out to be a stoneblower (that I could not get the number of) that left Banbury's Reservoir sidings at 12.00 to get to Bletchley. This has a route mileage of seventy-six miles but, by road, it is a relatively short twenty-nine. If the East-West rail link ever gets built with the farcical delays that have blighted it now added to by COVID-19 then a journey such as this would be so much more straightforward with a reversal at Bicester South Junction required unless a north chord is to be installed?
