With the mornings just getting light enough and with the sun supposed to be out I took a walk across the field to see the passage of the Highland Sleeper.

390103, VT 06.45 Wolverhampton-London Euston (1R12, RT), Ashton Road bridge 390106 'Rethink Mental Illness' passes Ashton Road bridge just south of Roade in Northamptonshire forming the 06.45 Wolverhampton to Euston. Taking photographs of up trains at this location was all but impossible up until the start of the year with contractors for Network Rail removing the entire lineside vegetation in preparation for embankment stabilisation work. 319216, LN 06.50 Northampton-London Euston (2N10, 10L), Ashton Road bridge 319216 leads two other units on the 06.50 Northampton to Euston train past Ashton Road bridge just south of the village of Roade. Note the frost on the embankment following a cold night and on what should have been a bright and sunny morning. However, a stubborn area of cloud behind me prevented the sun from illuminating the scene and warming things up! This particular train is a commuter working that is usually very busy. However, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, a quick glance through the windows as it passed revealed that it was almost empty! 92033, CS 20.26 Inverness, 21.12 Aberdeen, 19.00 Fort William-London Euston (1M16, 2L), Ashton Road bridge 92033 leads the Highland Sleeper just south of Roade in Northamptonshire. With the mornings getting a little lighter and with the prospect of a sunny morning I ventured out to see this working but the sun did not play ball hiding behind a stubborn bank of cloud. The Sleeper services are going through a period of increased reliability in recent months following the disastrous introductory period of the Mk.IV stock.
