390045, VT 06.35 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A06), Victoria bridge
I have often wondered why so many Pendolinos travel up and down the WCML with their front covers open. It does nothing for their looks and I am sure does not help with their aerodynamics and thus their electricity consumption! Here at Victoria bridge just south of Roade in Northamptonshire 390045 working the 06.35 Manchester Piccadilly to Euston.

390044, VT 07.30 London Euston-Preston (1S42), Victoria bridge
Looking very smart in the early morning sunshine, 390044 races past Victoria bridge between Milton Keynes and Rugby working the 1S42 07.30 Euston to Preston. Note that the service has the 'S' reporting number indicating its destination as Scotland. For us southerners, the Lancashire town of Preston certainly feels that it's near to Scotland but geographically it is still firmly in England!

350244, LM 06.54 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y52), Victoria bridge
With rampant spring vegetation growth taking over the embankments and beginning to impinge on the passing trains Network Rail must get out and do some much-needed clearance. London Midland's 350244 along with a classmate pass Victoria bridge just south of Roade working the 06.54 Birmingham New Street to Euston.

390112, VT 07.35 London Euston-Manchester Piccadilly (1H62), Victoria bridge
Having now reverted back to looking like a 'normal' train again, 390112 passes Victoria bridge just south of Roade in Northamptonshire with the 07.35 Euston to Manchester service. Last Christmas this Pendolino became quite a celebrity with both power cars wearing a unique 'Traindeer' livery for the duration of the festive period.

90019, outward leg of The Cumbrian Coast Express, 07.09 London Euston-Carnforth (1Z86), Victoria bridge
The Railway Touring Company's Cumbrian Coast Express charter heads north past Victoria bridge in Northamptonshire on a sunny late May morning. The train is led by 90019 that is taking a break from its more usual duties of hauling the sleeper services. Running as 1Z86 the charter left Euston at 07.09 and on arrival at Carnforth had former LMS Royal Scot 46115 'Scots Guardsman' attached to the front for a run around the delightful Cumbrian Coast route as far as Sellafield.

350236, LM 07.05 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (2Y07) & 390103, VT 07.43 London Euston-Carlisle (9S47), Victoria bridge
The race is on! Yet another Pendolino running with its nose cone cover in the open position is seen passing Victoria bridge near to Roade. Named 'Virgin Hero' it was decided that 390103 should carry Royal British Legion World War I commemorative branding and this was applied last year. It is seen working the 07.43 Euston to Carlisle train passing 350236 on the 07.05 Euston to Birmingham New Street.
