A quick ride out on my bike from home to Roade cutting in order to observe a rare working that had been posted on the internet. Unusually, it ran and to time so I was soon back home again!

390002 'Virgin Angel' passes through Roade cutting working the 9S34 08.43 Euston to Edinburgh service. This is my second picture of this Pendolino with its one-off blue angel vinyls on the nose and flanks just behind the driver's door.

975025 Caroline & 37402, 08.05 Willesden Brent-Derby RTC (5Z02), Roade cutting
The purpose of my morning trip to Roade cutting was to capture the passage of the 5Z02 Willesden to Derby move. Here, DRS's 37402 propels 'Caroline', numbered 975025, through the cutting. 'Caroline' was originally built in 1958 at Eastleigh Works as type AZA trailer restaurant buffet car (trb) numbered S60755, intended for use in Class 203 diesel-electric multiple-unit No. 1036. However, it saw little use and was converted for other uses in 1964, including carrying Pope John Paul II during his visit to the UK in 1982.

37402 propels former trailer restaurant buffet car (S60755) now numbered 975025 'Caroline' through Roade cutting as the 08.05 Willesden Brent to Derby RTC working. It will descend and curve away from the WCML fast lines, seen to the left, and pass through the colloquially named birdcage heading towards Northampton.
