Class 220, XC 08.20 Southampton Central-Manchester Piccadilly (1M34), Birmingham New Street station
A class 220 winds its way into Birmingham New Street station past one of the twelve horse sculptures placed along the line between New Street and Wolverhampton. These were installed during 1987 as part of a scheme called Iron Horse. Each unique horse sculptures was designed by Kevin Atherton with the whole scheme costing £12000! 350105, LM 12.35 Birmingham New Street-Liverpool Lime Street (1F41) & 350116, LM 12.36 Birmingham New Street-Coventry (2C15), Birmingham New Street station
Two class 350s stand at Birmingham New Stree station. To the far left, 350105 will work the 1F41 12.35 to Liverpool Lime Street whilst 350116 will work the 2C15 12.36 to Coventry. It seems a shame that passengers from the West Midlands going to Liverpool need to change trains at New Street, why can direct service not be operated by London Midland?

153334, LM 12.00 Tyseley LMD-Coventry ECS (5G45), Birmingham New Street station
London Midland has eight single car class 153 units for use on their network. Built in 1990, 153334 arrives into New Street station as the 5G45 12.00 Tyseley to Coventry ECS working. After arrival at New Street, the 'Super Sprinter' will then retrace its steps as far as Curzon Street Junction where it will then continue towards Coventry ready to take up its duties between there and Nuneaton.

350110, LM 12.14 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y13), class 66, 09.30 Willesden-Crewe Basford Hall & class 350, 11.37 Crewe-London Euston (1U30), Northampton station
A busy Sunday afternoon scene at Northampton station! With the new station footbridge and lift tower dominating the view, a class 350 waits at platform three with the 11.37 Crewe to London Euston. An unidentified class 66 sits at the rear of the 09.30 Willesden to Crewe Basford Hall engineering train. Finally, to the right, 350110, that we have just alighted from, waits with the 12.14 Birmingham New Street to Euston. However, eagle-eyed spotters will notice that 350110 has its tail lights illuminated so I do not understand how it was going to continue its journey to Euston, perhaps it was cancelled with passengers having to change to the service on platform three?
