Class 66, 02.57 Felixstowe North-Garston (4M45), between Roade & Ashton Just after sunrise between the villages of Roade and Ashton an unidentified class 66 leads the 02.57 Felixstowe to Garston Freightliner. I love the lighting at this time of year and at this time of day. It makes the effort of getting up early worth while! Keywords: 02.57 Felixstowe North-Garston 4M45 Roade Ashton
66538, 03.25 Garston-London Gateway (4L52), Victoria bridge 66538 leads the 03.25 Garston to London Gateway past Victoria bridge located between Roade and Ashton. 66542, 02.08 Trafford Park-Ipswich (4L97) & 390006, VT 06.10 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A05, 5L), Victoria bridge 66542 heads the 02.08 Trafford Park to Ipswich Freightliner past Victoria bridge just south of Roade as a 390006 'Rethink Mental Illness' passes it forming the 06.10 Manchester Picadilly to Euston. 66526, 04.25 Felixstowe North-Lawley Street (4M88), Victoria bridge With the driver casually resting his head on his hand in the cab of 66526 'Driver Steve Dunn (George)' as it passes Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton. The locomotive, named after the driver of the freight train involved in the Selby crash in 2001, was leading the 04.25 Felixstowe to Garston Freightliner. 86259, outward leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express, 07.10 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), Victoria bridge As usual, 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' looks absolutely superb, particularly in the early autumn sunshine. It is seen here on the WCML between Roade and Ashton working the outward Cumbrian Mountain Express from Euston to Carlisle with steam taking over at Carnforth. I have observed and photographed this train many times and am always somewhat surprised at the lack of passengers on this leg of the trip. I wonder where most get on as it heads northwards?
