Whilst out skiing with my son on a very snowy day we came across the Mont Blanc Tramway at Col de Voza. I did not have my proper camera with me so had to make do with some poor quality pictures taken on my Blackberry.

Marie, 10.10 Col de Voza-Le Fayet, Col De Voza station
At some 7.6 km up from Saint-Gervais-Le-Fayet deep in the valley, Col de Voza is about halfway up the climb to the top of the railway high up at the Glacier-de-Bionnassay. This railway was operating this far due to very heavy snow blocking the track further up the mountain. With the tracks cleared to this location, the 10.10 return service down to Saint-Gervais-Voza-Le Fayet is about to leave formed by single-car 'Marie'.

Snow clearance, Col-de-Voza station
With the staff of the Mont Blanc Tramway having cleared the line up from Saint-Gervais-Le Fayet as far as here at Col-de-Voza, they set to work getting the rest of the line open up to the summit at 7,782 feet making it Europe's fourth highest mountain railway. Here a diesel unit and snow blower are in use on the 1metre track. Their efforts will have been in vain as there was steady snow all day followed by about a foot of snow falling at resort level the coming night!
