I took a little time out of work and borrowed their old van to get a picture of the 1Z53 football excursion passing through Northampton.

350118, LM 13.13 Euston-Birmingham New Street (1Y39), Wilson`s Crossing
350118 makes a fine sight (if a Desiro can be such a thing!) as it accelerates away from Northampton with the 13.13 Euston to Birmingham New Street service. The picture is taken at Wilson's Crossing that is a footpath crossing over the line near Kingsthorpe to the north of Northampton.

86632 & 86612, 10.10 Tilbury-Crewe Basford Hall (4M54), Wilson`s Crossing
I had not prepared myself for the unexpected passing of the 10.10 Tilbury to Basford Hall multimodal working and was thus not in the position to capture the double-headed class 86s properly at Wilson's Crossing north of Northampton. Thus, the electrification masts have interfered with the image with one growing out of the roof of 86632 and the other blocking the rear cab of 86612! In addition, I have not managed to get the rear of the long train in the shot. However, the use of these veteran AC electrics on freight is to be recorded as often as possible as I suspect that it will not continue for a lot longer as availability of spares parts and maintenance of these fifty year old locomotives become more problematic.

350232, LM 14.25 Northampton-Birmingham New Street (2Y19), Wilson`s crossing
Having just crossed a small river on the four arch viaduct in Kingsthorpe meadows to the north of Northampton, 350232 picks up speed with the 14.25 Northampton to Birmingham New Street stopper service. There are discussions under way to develop the field in the foreground, and a number of others behind me, and cover them with a mass of new housing.

66154, 13.01 Willesden Eurotunnel-Tunstead (6H50), Wilson`s crossing
EWS branded 66154 makes relatively light work of the 6H50 13.01 Willesden Eurotunnel to Tunstead empty cement wagons. It is seen climbing away from Northampton past Kingsthorpe. Unfortunately, I under estimated the length of the train and the final cement wagons are out of shot to the right.

57306, 13.14 London Euston-Liverpool Lime Street footex (1Z53), Wilson`s crossing
Looking very smart in its DRS compass livery, 57306 passes Wilson's Crossing near Northampton leading the 13.14 Euston to Liverpool Lime Street football excursion. The stock is a complete mish-mash of Mk. II air conditioned coaches with 57309 'Pride of Crewe' on the rear. I am not at all sure why this footex was running as I can find no record football matches taking place involving either Liverpool or Everton on this particular Tuesday. If anybody can help me with any details of this train I would appreciate it.

57309 13.14 London Euston-Liverpool Lime Street footex (1Z53), Wilson`s crossing
Since Network Rail have cleared the embankments in this area, the views have really been opened up allowing pictures to be taken in both directions. 57306 'Pride of Crewe' hangs on to the rear of the mysterious 13.14 Euston to Crewe football excursion. The train is seen passing Wilson's crossing just outside Northampton.
