A quick ride out on the Brompton to Roade cutting in order to see The Canterbury & White Cliffs Statesman railtour. A largely sunny half hour with just the sun diving behind a cloud as the pièces de résistance arrived!

Class 221, VT 06.52 Holyhead-London Euston (1A15, 1E), Roade cutting
An unidentified class 221 speeds through Roade cutting with the 06.52 Holyhead to Euston. Whilst the front of the Virgin working is in sunshine, the rear is in shadow such was the changeable nature of the weather.

D1924 & 47614, the outward leg of The Canterbury & White Cliffs Statesman, 06.36 Shrewsbury-Canterbury West (1Z85), Roade cutting
I was fully expecting that The Canterbury and White Cliffs Statesman railtour was going to be top and tailed so to see it double headed was a treat! D1924 (formally DRS 47810) is paired with 47614 working the railtour that started out from Shrewsbury at 06.36 and was heading for Canterbury West and is seen passing through Roade Cutting. This gave the passengers only a couple of hours to explore the delightful Kent city before returning. I observed the return working from the bedroom window of home at about 21.00!
