A day trip to London with my wife. I must admit to being in a bit of daze for most of the day completed speechless and staggered that the citizens of the USA had just elected a president named Donald Trump. This time we were attending a production of Lasurus, the musical written by David Bowie. The production took place at the pop-up King`s Cross theatre adjacent to the station. Whilst sitting in the theatre, during the quieter periods of the production, the station announcer and some trains could be heard!

The rear of 350115 stands at Northampton station having arrived with the 08.33 1W06 service from Birmingham to Euston service. My wife and I travelled on this train from Northampton to Euston.

Interior, London St
The station clock dominates this view of the interior of St. Pancras station. The magnificent glazed wrought iron framework allows light to flood in creating a lovely environment that has proved appealing not only to passengers but also shoppers, like my wife!

Interior, London St
Never ever did I think that when I visited a dirty and very run-down St. Pancras in the 1970s and 1980s that it would be re-born and morph into what it has become today! The magnificent and restored William Henry Barlow designed train shed dominates this view looking up from the undercroft that now contains a huge range of retail outlets. On the platform level in this image the famous champaign bar can be seen, a favourite haunt for the more affluent traveller prior to their departure be it either on East Midlands, Southeastern or Eurostar services.

43320, GR 15.00 London King`s Cross-Stirling (1S22), London King`s Cross station
It's 14.15 at London King's Cross and 43320 waits to work the 15.00 to Stirling in forty five minutes' time. In the meantime, King's Cross remains busy with a chap waiting to see what platform his train is going from whilst a woman makes her way to her train. I like these sort of shots, they are different to the usual three quarter views of train in stations.

82211, GR 14.30 London King`s Cross-Newcastle (1N21), London King`s Cross station
DVT 82211 should be leaving King's Cross at the rear of the 14.30 to Newcastle in seven minutes' time if all goes to plan. Notice in the reflection of the information screen the two London busses out on Euston Road and the almost ghostly refection of the lone passenger standing with her bags.

Many of us will remember the King's Cross of old when the glazing was blackened by grime, the concourse was uninviting and cramped with the warm stonework cluttered with signs and structures that had been added over the years. I have to compliment Network Rail on the superb job that they have done renovating the station making it a place worthy of its status as one of the UK's most important stations. In this image, 365527 is going to work the 14.35 to Peterborough whilst 43320 will power the rear of the 15.00 to Stirling.

Statue, Sir Nigel Gresley, London King`s-Cross station
A statue of the former the former LNER CME Sir Nigel Gresley (1876-1941) stands on the new concourse at London King's Cross. The plaque to the left provides information about him to any passing passengers who care to pause for a moment. I have manipulated this image a little by desaturating it but at the same time leaving the remembrance poppy that has been placed on his lapel to shine through in its original colour.

90043, stabled, London Euston station
Freightliner 90043 sits stabled at London Euston station. Often on arrival or departure at Euston there are random locomotives sitting at the stops for no apparent reason. In the background, the Pendolino can easily be identified as being 390151 due the huge Union flag adorning the power car.

390153, VT 19.30 London Euston-Glasgow Central (1S06), London Euston station
The final northbound Anglo Scottish service of the day stands at Euston's platform six. 390153 should arrive at Glasgow early the next day with the 19.30 from Euston.
