After unpacking and a coffee, I nipped to Waverley for a short while before going out to dinner.

380107, SR 18.14 Edinburgh Waverley-North Berwick (2Y02), Edinburgh Waverley station
This was a picture that caused quite a rumpus! The female member of ScotRail staff, who was undertaking revenue protection duties, took great offence to me taking a picture of her. Just after I took this picture she stormed over to me demanding that I delete it, I refused and apologised if I caused any offence and stated that it was not of just her but the whole scene. She radioed through to somebody but nobody arrived to escort me from the station! 380107 will soon work the 18.14 to North Brewick

Commemorative plaque, platform 4, Edinburgh Waverley station
There are a number of these blue plaques up and down the length of the ECML. They commemorate various significant milestones during the electrification scheme from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. This plaque is on Edinburgh Waverley station was unveiled by Michael Ancram who, as well as being a Scottish minister, was also the MP for Edinburgh South.

91110, GR 13.30 London King`s Cross-Edinburgh (1S19), Edinburgh Waverley station
91110 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flight' has just arrived at Edinburgh with the 13.30 from King's Cross and the driver has already switched his tail lights on for a return journey either to Craigentinny or back to London. The livery of this member of the class 91 fleet looks very impressive complete with its superb nameplate and crest.

380103, SR 17.54 North Berwick-Ayr (1K59), Edinburgh Waverley station
380103 pauses at Edinburgh Waverley's platform eleven with the 17.54 North Berwick to Ayr working. This is an interesting journey that crosses Scotland from coast to coast. I am not sure about the looks of these class 380s? Their unusual pitched front ends do look a little odd to my eyes.

43306, GR 14.00 London King`s Cross-Aberdeen (1S20), Edinburgh Waverley station
The 1S20 14.00 King's Cross to Aberdeen has completed the bulk of its journey from London with the small matter of just 130 miles to go! 43306 is leading the HST set looking smart in its Virgin East Coast livery. 43306 has been an Eastern Region power car since delivery as part of 254026 in early 1979.

43272, GR 14.00 London King`s Cross-Aberdeen (1S20), Edinburgh Waverley station
43272 sits at the rear of the 14.00 King's Cross to Aberdeen as it pauses at Edinburgh Waverley on its 523 mile journey. Notice the family on the platform with their luggage. I have never seen so many bags taken off a train, they were in the guard's compartment of the power car, I hope that they were 'distributed evenly' as they must have been close to the weight limit for it!

158738, SR 17.29 Tweedbank-Edinburgh Waverley (2T99), Edinburgh Waverley station
158738 awaits its next turn at Edinburgh Waverley station. It has just terminated having worked the 17.29 from Tweedbank. Notice the oversized numbers on the front of the unit, some seem to have this feature, whereas others are are the standard size.

334017, SR 18.48 Edinburgh Wavereley-Helensburgh Central (2H43), Edinburgh Waverley station
Walking back to our hotel I had to cross the footbridge that goes from one side of Waverley to the other. I turned my camera and took this picture of 334017 waiting to leave with the 18.48 to Helensburgh Central. This is another service that crosses this part of Scotland from coast to coast.
