My wife, son and I took a few days in the Scottish capital to enjoy what it has to offer including some Fringe events. I was kept happy as we stayed in a hotel right next to Waverley station (what a coincidence!).

We travelled up by train from Milton Keynes via the WCML on a Virgin service. In the afternoon, I took an hour or so at Waverley. |

In between a morning and late afternoon visit to Waverley, I went on the recently opened line to Tweedbank, the Border's Line; a fascinating trip through some lovely countryside. |

An hour or so at both ends of the day at Waverley, a busy and interesting station. |

Steam charters at Edinburgh Waverley added interest to my visits, and, the weather held up too! |

The journey home again from Waverley to Milton Keynes. |
